The
Ray County Board of Services for the Developmentally Disabled of Ray
County, Missouri (hereinafter referred to as the "Board") derives its
authority from Section 205.968 to 205.972, RSMo commonly called the
"County Sheltered Workshop" law. Authority is further drawn from the
citizens of Ray County as per the passage of the original county tax
levy on August 7, 1984.
The Board believes that:
A:
Persons with developmental disabilities are valuable people
with all basic rights and all human needs.
B:
Persons with developmental disabilities should have the
freedom and opportunity to be the best they can or choose
to be.
C: Persons with the developmental disabilities have the right to live, make choices and
take risks
D:
Persons with developmental disabilities have the right to
appropriate services and supports across
their life span.
E: Persons with developmental disabilities have the right to fully participate in the
community.
RCBS Long Range Strategic Plan
The Ray County Board has made some long-range strategic plans for the future. Those plans include:
- A continuum of existing services for people with developmental disabilities including:
- Expansion of Supported Living services to include Individual Supported Living (ISL) in the community.
- Expansion of the present HUD 811 Apartment Program, by applying for a federal grant.
- Expansion of the Day Habilitation Program
